As part of a new three-year partnership, we’ll use our unique market position to support the Crisis mission to end homelessness in Great Britain.
Founded in 1967, Crisis is one of the UK’s leading voices in making homelessness a thing of the past. Nearly 9,000 people experiencing homelessness used their support services between 2020 and 2021.
The economic climate is challenging right now. So, the number of people who need their support is likely to rise.
Our research team has worked with Crisis to highlight how low-income renters across England are facing a housing ‘black hole’.
This is due to a combination of rising rents – as Government policies hit the growth in rental supply – and a freeze on housing benefit.
These factors mean there’s a major shortfall in genuinely affordable homes.
As we outlined in our research, increased investment in housing benefit will help thousands of people from being pushed into homelessness.
We also need increased supply of homes across all tenures. And this is especially needed in the rental sector.
Our Lettings Advisory Board brings together key players in the lettings industry.
It aims to maintain housing supply, and support landlords, agents and renters to grow with the changing market and policy environment.
We’ll use this group’s expertise to help drive the partnership forward in the right way for our industry.
We’ve worked with Crisis to produce guidance for landlords and letting agents who think that their tenants might be at risk of homelessness. It gives practical tips about how best to help.
